her·e·tic
[n. her-i-tik; adj. her-i-tik, huh-ret-ik]
–noun
1. a professed believer who maintains religious opinions contrary to those accepted by his or her church or rejects doctrines prescribed by that church.
2. Roman Catholic Church – a baptized Roman Catholic who willfully and persistently rejects any article of faith.
3. anyone who does not conform to an established attitude, doctrine, or principle.
Am I a heretic?
The commenter/subject from my last post got me thinking…
According to this definition, let me analyze this possibility:
1. I do not go to church. I am not a member of any particular denomination. I do not hold fast to any denominations’ doctrine. No Heretic Points
2. I have not been, nor ever will be, a member of the Roman Catholic Church. No Heretic Points
3. This may be the one that sinks me. There are more than a few viewpoints I have where some might consider me a non-conformist. But I fit right in with the other non-conformists of my ilk. Hmm…me=pirate. K. Possibly A Half Heretic Point
Time to start my own cult, I guess. Don’t worry, I won’t be serving Kool Aid…but I do have cookies, if anyone is interested.

Chocolate chip or Oatmeal chocolate chip are my cookie of choice… ya heretic! psshh
Tang is better than Kool Aid anyways.
@MomGoneMadd - You may have both, and all you want.
@Paul_Partisan - OMG! YOU’RE RIGHT! I haven’t had Tang in so long. That’s it, Tang for EVERYONE!
Mmm cookies. I’m down.
@suggestivetongue - I just knew cookies would be the clincher! I’d better get to baking…
Uh, oh! I do believe I scored more points than you! Pass the cookies, please!
Oatmeal cookies get my vote. I don’t like Kool AId. Could we have Iced Tea instead?
@jo63psalm - On their way!
@ShadesOfAnnie - Oh, I guess there’s no harm in that. We’ll have cookies, and Tang, and Iced Tea. Sweetened or unsweetened?
@CynaraJane - Unsweetened please. Sugar goes in cake, not iced tea.
@ShadesOfAnnie - Ha ha! Okay. You’re not from the South, are you? LOL
Isn’t it interesting how some subjects are so inflammatory? And how so many people think they can change the mind of someone they don’t know by sounding superior? I don’t agree with you, but I’m not sure I could convince you to change in a blog post comment…I almost think the FG post was intended to incite a little “lively discussion” here and there.
@CynaraJane - Northern California actually, but my Kin folk are from North Calorlina, even so, sugar still goes in cake, not your tea!
@gwennieg - I know, many don’t agree with me. Really, though, I didn’t expect to change the minds of those with an opposing viewpoint either. I know the topic was voted on by the FG subscribers, so I don’t know that the motivation there was about inciting a lively discussion (or riots, LOL), or just the Xangans wanting to share their views. I realize I picked a controversial point there. I could have avoided all conflict and left it out, but I chose not to. I don’t mind lively debates, but that comment on that post rubbed me the wrong way. BTW, while I think abortion should remain a legal choice (for so many reasons), I would never suggest that it’s really a great thing. I do have the view that life doesn’t necessarily begin at conception, but much past that point…then yeah, it’s murder.
@ShadesOfAnnie - I like sweet tea m’self, but I will make sure you have unsweetened. Shall we include cake since we don’t have the sugar in the tea?
@CynaraJane - Lisa, make is Cherry CHEESECAKE and I’ll be yours for life! I almost worship CHEESECAKE!
That and a glass of unsweetened ice tea and I’m in heaven!
BTW, Coldstone Creamery has the BEST Cherry Cheesecake Ice cream ever. Complete wityh the cherries from ie filling and craham cracker crust pieces. Yum-O!
@ShadesOfAnnie - Cherry Cheesecake, good choice! We have a place called Ritter’s Frozen Custard, and they have the best Blueberry Cheesecake Frozen Custard int the world, with huge chunks of real cheesecake in it! I’ve never been to Coldstone, but I hear it’s yummy. If ever I go, I’ll try the Cherry Cheesecake Ice Cream.
I did a survey once to see what organized religion I mostly identified with. It turns out, I’m a good example of what a person that belonged to the Society of Friends (the Quakers) is like.
I don’t know if I am a heretic or just plain hectic.
@MaggieNellie59 - I’d love to take that kind of survey, just for fun. Did you think it was a fair representation of what you believe?
@Aloysius_son - Can’t we all just get along and be both?
Cookies with bacon. Mmmm…bacon as a side, or bacon in the cookies? You decide.
@princessjami - OH! How could I have forgotten bacon? Bacon cookies and on the side…oh yes! There will be bacon!
