  • Intermission…

…from all things summery. Just for a little while. I only have a few more things to tell you about, and even though they are grand things I don’t feel like I have the time to properly share any of them.

I have so much on my plate right now. I am sorting and packing a lifetime of accumulated “things.” Not just my things but a household of things… The whole idea is to travel light, because we don’t really know where we’ll end up. It may be (probably will be) a much smaller dwelling, probably an apartment. I’m getting rid of a LOT.

It’s actually a freeing, cleansing feeling, all of this. Don’t feel badly for me. I have always viewed life as a great adventure. Not much has broken me in my lifetime. This isn’t the worst thing that’s ever happened to me, so “broken” doesn’t apply. There are others out there in this time of economic upheaval who have fared much worse. I count my blessings.

The hard part about this for me at the moment is a time issue. I have all of this to do in the house in addition to the regular every day stuff, and I have a daughter who is active in extracurricular activities…and a son who visits with his father at odd times because of his dad’s schedule. It’s a juggling act to say the least. I don’t get a lot of sleep. I’m starting to get really tired. I don’t want to become exhausted. I just don’t see an alternative. I have to get this stuff done.

The rest of my week is shaping up to be a busy one. Tonight and Thursday evening Marisa has color guard practice. Tomorrow Jaden visits with his dad and in the early evening we have an appointment with our attorney. Friday I am chaperoning the marching band to an away game. Saturday and Sunday I am hoping to have a garage sale. I’m also supposed to be at a marching band competition on Saturday, but I don’t know how that’s going to work. Heh. It’s all pretty nuts schedule-wise.

    Yesterday I voted.

In Ohio this year we have a week-long opportunity to vote by absentee ballot without excuse. I had to fix an error that the board of elections made with my name, so I had to go downtown to the county board of elections anyway (yesterday being the deadline). I took advantage of the opportunity while I was down there. So at least that’s done. My vote is cast. I’m not telling who I voted for. I fear it doesn’t really matter who anyone votes for, contrary to what my sticker states above. I have little confidence that either candidate can work miracles. It may just be where my head is at right now. All I know is neither one of them is here helping me move out of my foreclosed home.

    Have you ever voted absentee?

Do you think either candidate can turn the economy around?

  • Oh LIsa, I am sorry that your loosing your house, but very glad that you have this outlook on it. Life goes in circles and it will come around again.

    Good luck getting it done!

  • glad to see you back
tough times, but i do love your perspective about it

  • With that attitude nothing will stop you, PQ.

Way back in the day, I managed a restaurant.  When it was mucho profitable, it was because a monkey could operate a successful restaurant in such a great economy.  When it was slightly less profitable, it was because I was such a poor manager.  In short, the guy at the top gets too much credit for either situation.

On the other hand,  the Republicans got us in this mess, maybe Obama can bring us out.  It’s worth a shot, imo.

Never voted absentee.  I don’t have the time-crunching responsibilities you do, and I kind of enjoy being their on the day casting my vote.

    Fair seas, PQ!

  • You know you voted for McCain. Ha! Well, I don’t need to tell you how much I admire you. No, I doubt anything thrown your way will ever break you. Even in these hard times, you manage to keep being a good mom. Amazing.

  • I’m wishing you the very best in your future whatever you do and  where ever you land.  It sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you..

No, I’ve never voted absentee.  I would like to but in order to do it I would have to make a trip downtown and that isn’t something I do very often.  We will be working on election day from 5:30am until 9:30 pm.  We get some time off to go vote because I won’t be working in my voting district.

  • i agree with you on that whoever wins will not be able to fix our economy. it is as broken as it has ever been. and it will not be an easy task for the next president. in fact, i’m not sure the next president can survive more than one term with so many problems stacked against him. anyway, i am so glad that you are not broken.:ssstar: you give hope to all of us suffering through this time. peace be upon you always!

  • Interestingly enough I just read an article in “The Economist” (normally fairly conservative) that polled a bunch of economists and most of them seem to think Obama’s economic plan is a lot better than McCain’s. Unfortunately, I ,myself, think we’re in too deep for either candidate to just automatically pull us out with whatever they initially do once in office.

  • I am voting absentee.

I don’t think either really can change our economy - it’s such a big project.

  • I truly hope things go well and that you get some nice naps in between the chaos!

I have voted absentee, while I was in college in ND, I was a resident of MN. Also I think that, with time, either candidate could turn the economy around.

  • dang you sound too busy to move :(   I must have missed the relocation why?  Maybe you didn’t say.  I hope it goes well.

never voted absent.  and not sure the gov can change the economy………i think it starts with the people, but as a whole we have failed and now it’s just a mess…….complicated i guess.

  • never did….worry about verification

  • You’ve lived thru so many adventures, and some misadventures; I have no doubt you’ll come out kicking stronger once the dust settles, but I *am* sorry you’re going thru it all.  It’s a sad state our great nation is in these days.

If I lived closer to you, I’d swing by and help you; maybe it’d take a little off of your plate . . . and while you’re not looking, I’d probably make away w/a tiny trinket to have a small token of you.  Some people call it stealing, others call it clepto… , but what do they know.  ehehhe hehee

Oh, and . . . no, I don’t believe either candidate can take the country ouf of the slump it’s in, not in just one term.

  • Hi Lisa,

You sound wonderful…considering...and hey there is always someone worse off than us. Thinking of that when I feel not so great, keeps me going. So keep on doing what you are doing in keeping busy. Believe me, I think that is what keeps us sane sometimes. You have my number, Lisa, and when you finally lay yourselves settled, give me a call..like for the holidays, just to say “Hi Jennifer!” :sswink: I wish you all the best.

Hey I like your banner, “everything is going to be alright.” Send it to me: jennlynnthome@gmail.com

    Love,

    Jennifer
