Define “Good”…
My day job is working in a grocery store these days, managing the “home delivery” department. I take grocery orders over the phone from mostly elderly people who have us shop their orders and deliver them to their door.
One of my customers today asked for some ground beef, then was confused for a moment about what she really wanted, and asked me, “What’s the good kind of ground beef?” I paused for a few beats. I mean, my definition of what good ground beef is will be different, probably, from most other people’s definition of good ground beef. “Well, by good, do you mean leanest, fattiest, or cheapest? If you mean leanest, Ground Sirloin is what you want.” She laughed and stated that was what she meant, leanest. I thought that’s probably what she was getting at, but to me the fattier the meat the better. Better flavor, better for you. Saturated fat is the best, contrary to what conventional wisdom about that may be. I will get more into that topic after we make the switch to Xanga 2.0, count on it. But anyway…
I have to laugh when someone asks me what’s “good” when they need suggestions about what they want to buy. How am I supposed to really know what someone else thinks is good? It’s all a matter of opinion, isn’t it?
So tell me, what does “good” mean to you?
